How to Look Good with Braces: Style & Confidence Tips

How to Look Good with Braces: Style & Confidence TipsEveryone wants to look good in rings, but they can be quite distracting. Don't let them change how you feel about yourself! Rings do their job, and you'll never regret wearing them. It's possible to look good and confident while wearing them.

Living with braces

Braces are great, not because of how they look or feel, but because of the results they produce. When you have braces, it shows others that you care about your appearance and are trying to improve it. Remember, once the treatment is complete, you're going to have a beautiful smile

  • If you have standard rings, think about what color rubber bands you want.
  • Avoid bright colors like orange, green, yellow, red, light blue, purple, etc. These rubber bands will generally be more visible. Also avoid transparent rubber bands, as they tend to stain easily.
  • Instead, choose black, gray, and silver. They'll be less noticeable and stain less easily.
  • Try different colors. After a while, you'll know which colors work best for you.
  • If you are going to choose two or more colors, make sure they are colors from the same family (warm or cool) and that they are not too different.

If you really don't like the traditional braces you've been offered, ask your dentist if other types of braces are available. Here are some of the options available to you.
  • Ceramic braces: These are the same size as traditional braces, except they are the same color as your teeth .
  • Internal braces: These are glued to the inside of the teeth and are therefore not visible. Be aware that they tend to be less comfortable at first and may hurt more.
  • Aligners: These are not braces. They are custom-made dental appliances that will straighten your teeth for two years or more. They do not work for more serious dental problems.

Keep smiling and hold your head high. A friendly face and a positive attitude will have a more positive effect on your appearance than braces. Be honest with yourself, that's what really matters
  • Don't mumble or try to keep your mouth shut to hide your braces. People might not understand and think you're shy and don't want to talk to them.

Taking care of your oral hygiene

Braces aren't just things in your mouth that help straighten your teeth. Braces also require good dental care. If you take care of your oral hygiene, braces will have a more positive effect on your eventual appearance .
  • Visit your dentist regularly, about every 3 to 6 months. If you have difficulty cleaning your teeth, don't hesitate to see your dentist more often.

Brush your teeth in the morning and at night. It is extremely important to remove any small pieces of food that may have gotten stuck between your teeth due to braces. To keep your mouth cleaner, try using an electric toothbrush before rinsing with mouthwash and flossing .
  • If you can't brush your teeth, use mouthwash. Whenever you're out and about and want a perfect, clean smile, skip the mouthwash. It will also freshen your breath.

Floss daily. Flossing will help keep your mouth clean and prevent inflammation and gum disease like gingivitis. Flossing is essential when you have braces. It can be difficult to get it between braces, but it might be easier if you use wax-coated floss or Christmas tree brushes.
  • If your finances allow, consider purchasing an electric water flosser. This device is rechargeable or plugs into a power outlet. You use it after eating to thoroughly clean between your teeth.

If you make progress, your dentist may remove your braces sooner! Don't eat sticky foods. They could stick to your braces, which isn't pretty.

Focus attention elsewhere

If you wear accessories or dress more boldly, you might be able to draw attention away from your mouth. Think about things you've always wanted to try: a new hairstyle, a new style of clothing, new accessories. These are things that will catch people's eye. If you stay true to yourself, the attention you receive won't be negative.

Try an interesting hat, a pair of sunglasses, or a scarf . Wear different styles of clothing or try a new fashion. Wear a T-shirt that's different from your usual clothes. Try temporary tattoos or jewelry to draw attention away from your rings.

Find a new, unique style for your hair or completely change your hairstyle! Find a colorful and eye-catching makeup look for your eyes.
  • Apply a sparkling or dramatic eyeshadow . Eyeshadow draws attention away from the mouth and toward the eyes. Don't overdo it, though!
  • Avoid wearing lipstick that's too bold. This will draw attention to your mouth.

Advice

  • If you are going to choose two or more colors, make sure they are colors from the same family (warm or cool) and that they are not opposite colors.
  • If you want cool colors, try a dark color with a light color, such as gray and pink. Try not to choose two dark colors or two light colors.
  • Experiment with different colors to see if they look good on you and if they draw attention to your teeth.
  • Be positive and proud. You don't have to be shy or walk with your head down so no one sees you.
  • When you first get braces fitted, don't choose a neon color. Choose natural or neutral lighting. It still looks nice, but your teeth will attract less attention.
  • Be careful with the elastic colors you choose. White or clear elastics can stain easily, but they reduce the attention the rings attract.
