Glasses are essential for some people's daily lives, and as such, they can get dirty very quickly. While it's common to clean the lenses of your glasses, it's just as important to keep the nose pads clean. Learn how to thoroughly clean the nose pads and replace them as needed to keep every part of your glasses sparkling again.
Quickly clean the pads
Make sure to wash your hands and then dry them. It'll be easier to clean your glasses if your hands are clean as well. Use warm water and soap before touching them.
Clean the nose pads with an alcohol wipe. These are available at drugstores or office supply stores and are perfect for quickly cleaning nose pads. All you have to do is rub them over the nose pads, being careful not to rub the lenses too hard.
Make sure to clean the area between the nose pads and the frame. Use the alcohol wipe. Since this area can quickly build up greenish gunk, you should clean it regularly. Use the edges of the wipe to clean the area and the surrounding parts to remove as much dirt as possible.
- If the edges of the alcohol wipe you used to clean the face of the nose pads are still clean, you can use it to clean the area between the nose pads and the frame.
- If you don't have a clean alcohol wipe or want more control when cleaning hard-to-reach parts, use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol.
Submerge the glasses in warm, soapy water. This will help remove any remaining dirt. You can fill the sink or a small container with warm water and add a few drops of hand soap. After that, submerge the glasses in the solution and let them soak for 10 to 15 minutes to get rid of any residual dirt and grease .
- If you wish, you can soak them longer. For example, you can leave them in the solution overnight, but keep in mind that prolonged exposure of the glasses to water and temperature fluctuations can damage them.
Use a microfiber cloth to dry the lenses thoroughly. Use a clean, soft cloth to dry the entire surface of the glasses, taking care not to dirty the lenses. Dry all nooks and crannies to prevent water from getting trapped in or around the lenses.
- If you prefer, you can wait for them to dry naturally. This will prevent streaks on the lenses that might occur when drying with a cloth, but it will take much longer.
Remove and clean the pads
Make sure to wash your hands and then dry them. Hands tend to accumulate thin layers of grease and dirt over the course of a normal day. As a result, these can be transferred to your glasses when you try to clean them without washing your hands first. Use warm water and soap to wash them to get rid of any dirt you don't want to leave on your glasses and lenses.
Make sure to unscrew the nose pads from your glasses. Removing them will allow you to clean them thoroughly. Look for a small screw that holds each tag in place and carefully unscrew it to remove the nose pads .
- Put these small screws in a safe place while you clean the pads. They are difficult to change if you lose them.
- On some glasses, the nose pads are attached differently or are part of the frame. If you can't find a way to remove the nose pads, skip this ste

Dip a clean cotton swab into the cleaning solution. You can also use a toothbrush. Either will help remove dirt and oil without damaging the glasses as a whole. All you have to do is gently scrub the nose pads. Dip the tip of the cotton swab or toothbrush into the cleaning solution.
Apply the cleaning solution to the pads with your chosen tool. Start by lightly rubbing them to remove dirt. Once the dirt and grease are visible, re-immerse your chosen tool in the cleaning solution.
- If you haven't been able to remove them, avoid rubbing the lenses. They scratch easily and are difficult to repair or replace.

Buy nose pads. Make sure they're the same size and shape as your old ones. Nose pads come in different sizes and shapes. They come in teardrop, rectangular, circular, and D-shaped shapes. - If you have the replacement pads with the kit, you will see everything you will need to change them. This is a screwdriver, new screws, a magnifying glass and of course the new pads in question. This will make the process easier for you and you will be able to do it again in the future without any problems
Remove the nose pads to be replaced. Hold the glasses so that the nose pads are facing you. Use a jeweler's screwdriver to remove the small screw that holds the nose pads in place. Set the screw aside and remove the nose pad .
- If they are not secured by a screw, they are probably clip-on pads. In this case, use a small screwdriver to push in on the old pads. They should pop off easily .
- You can use the same screws to secure the new pads, but make sure they are intact and working first. Check that the threads are not damaged and that the screw head is intact.
Attach the new nose pads. Place them on the frame of your glasses. Carefully insert the screw to hold the label in place and use the same screwdriver to tighten it . Be careful not to damage the screw head when tightening it, as this can make it difficult to remove later.
- If they are the clip-on nose pads, simply place them on the frame and push them until they click into place .
- If you have difficulty placing the pads or screws, use tweezers to hold and move them.
- If they are the "D" shaped pads, attach them so that the flat edge of the D faces away from the face.
Warnings
- Never use bleach, ammonia, or vinegar to clean your glasses. These products are too harsh and can permanently damage them.
