How to Pull a Loose Tooth Safely at Home

In all children, baby teeth begin to move before falling out. In fact, it's best to let them fall out on their own. However, if your child is determined to get rid of their tooth, there are a number of methods you can use to help. A loose tooth in an adult is a real problem, and you should never try to pull it out yourself. This is a very difficult and painful procedure, and can be dangerous for your teeth. However, if you can't get to the dentist, there are two methods you can use to remove a loose tooth.

Losing a baby tooth

Before pulling out a baby tooth, first check if it moves a lot. In other words, your child should be able to move it in all directions without experiencing pain. A large amount of movement means the tooth will fall out soon.
  • As mentioned earlier, it is better to let the tooth fall out on its own instead of pulling it out.

This is a great way to start a tooth extraction. Tell your child to wiggle their tooth with their tongue. They can do this throughout the day until the tooth falls out. Also, explain that this should not hurt

To speed up the process, encourage them to eat hard, chewy foods like carrots or apples to help the tooth fall out. The tooth may fall out on its own without the child noticing.

The best way is to grasp it with a piece of cloth or gauze. Try to pull it out gently but firmly. If the tooth resists or the child cries, it's best to wait a few days. But usually, the tooth will eventually come out.
  • Some children won't let you touch their teeth. In this case, it's best not to insist. You can also let the child do the procedure themselves.

If the tooth grows haphazardly or takes a long time to fall out, it's best to consult a dentist. Ask if the tooth should be removed, or if you should wait for it to fall out on its own..
  • After the consultation, be sure to strictly follow the dentist's recommendations.

If the tooth is bleeding after extraction, place a piece of cotton on it. You can also ask the child to hold the bandage in place by compressing it between the gums. Sometimes the cotton should be left in place for about 30 minutes, as blood from the gums takes longer to clot than from other parts of the body

Taking care of a tooth as an adult

Visit a dentist . Whenever possible, it is best for an adult to have their tooth extracted by a dentist. If your teeth have long roots, the operation will be more painful. In addition, there will likely be an early infection that the dentist will have to treat
  • You also risk severe bleeding. In some cases, infection and blood loss resulting from tooth extraction can be fatal.
  • If you can't afford to go to the dentist, try contacting a dental school that will perform the procedure at a lower cost. Additionally, many cities occasionally offer free or low-cost dental services, which you may be able to take advantage of.

If you are an adult, NEVER attempt to remove a tooth yourself, as this should only be done by a licensed dentist. Removing a tooth yourself or with the assistance of a non-licensed dentist can cause serious problems.
  • Many unforeseen events can happen. You can extract the tooth incorrectly and damage the tissue, the nerve, or cause an infection.
  • Remember that it is illegal to practice without a diploma. This practice exists in some countries, such as Cambodia, but be aware that doing so risks receiving a hefty fine and even imprisonment!

Carry out medical monitoring

Tooth extraction is a painful procedure. Try an NSAID such as naproxen sodium or ibuprofen. Acetaminophen may also help. Do not take aspirin, as this can worsen bleeding
  • To heal faster, you can take vitamin C.

Do not rinse your mouth during this time. You can drink and eat lukewarm food. However, avoid touching the wound area. To do this, be sure to chew using the other side of your teeth

This substance may seem effective because it reduces pain. However, it may also prevent the wound from healing completely. In addition, it can worsen the bleeding

You will need to follow this instruction. Also, when brushing your teeth, pay special attention to the location of the extraction to avoid causing further bleeding

Rinse your mouth with salt water . This method has the advantage of disinfecting your mouth. Prepare the solution by dissolving a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water. Rinsing should last 20 to 30 seconds, focusing on the extraction site. At the end of the operation, spit out the solution

Advice

  • If your tooth is painful and not ready for extraction, take painkillers or numb it with ice.

Warnings

  • Remember that you can only pull your own teeth. If you extract someone else's tooth, you will be performing dental work, which is illegal if you don't have a license.
